Frequently Asked Questions
Do you teach kids younger than 8 years old?
Yes I do! But at ArrowDynamics Archery… not yet. Younger children don’t have the fine motor skills and arm strength necessary to have a successful first try at archery in a regular class structure. They need more individualized attention. I want EVERYONE to have a fantastic first experience with archery, so that they are eager to do it again! Regretfully, for now, students need to be 8 years old to attend.
However, keep your eyes open! As a new business, I plan on training and hiring new coaches so that I can offer classes to younger students!
what qualifications do you have?
I am a USA Archery Level II Certified Instructor with 17 years of coaching experience. As a Level II Instructor I can provide archery instruction to students and also provide the USA Archery Level I Certification course to new instructors. To maintain my certification, I have a current background check and complete an annual US Center for Safesport training.
Can I participate if I’m in a cast?
Yes! Please reach out if you need accommodations of any kind so that we can make your experience enjoyable, but at ArrowDynamics we are committed to making archery accessible to anyone who wants to try it! See the USA Archery guidance on adaptive archery for more information.
why do i have to wear closed toe shoes?
This is a safety thing. Unfortunately, when people are first learning archery, arrows don’t always hit the target. They can get buried in the grass and be hidden from view. Proper footwear will protect you from injury in case you come across a hidden arrow. Sometimes archers will drop an arrow while loading it into their bow. The arrow tips that we use are blunt, but you still wouldn’t want that falling onto your foot. These are just two examples of why ArrowDynamics Archery requires all participants to wear closed toe and closed heel shoes.
Do the packages expire?
Nope! Once you buy a package, it is good for the number of classes listed in the description. It will never expire - come when you can!
Do you offer scouts BSA Archery merit badge counseling?
Yes! Use our contact form for more information!
Will you teach archery for my event?
This depends on a number of factors, but let’s talk about it and see if we can make something work! :) If you have an event where you would like to offer archery, please use our contact form for more information about event pricing.
why is the archery range so far from the parking lot?
This is another safety thing. An archery range should be positioned so that people may only approach from one direction, behind the waiting line. There should be a safety zone on each side of the range, and at least 150ft of space behind the targets as a third safety zone. Beginner archers, especially young beginner archers, sometimes shoot wide. And arrows can fly a lot farther than you think, even from a low draw weight bow. Additionally, all archers need quiet so they can focus. Positioning the range away from the road and any potential walking paths is the safest place for new archers to be free from distractions so they may learn this fantastic sport!
